About Us

"STOP FOLLOWING - TAKE THE LEAD" is our motto. LIGHTWEIGHT has stood for innovative technology and precise craftsmanship at the highest level since 2010. In order to survive in a highly competitive market, consistency, customer satisfaction and the quality of your own products must have absolute priority. This requires real visions, good ideas as well as technical and manual skills - and, and this is important: a good portion of stamina and perseverance. Our ideas do not always prevail. The results of the developments are not always satisfactory and can thus be passed on to the customer. But we vouch for that: All our products are tested extensively on the racetrack and in everyday use without any ifs or buts before they are released for sale and are approved by the TÜV. The know-how in the development and production of our own components enables individuality at the highest level. Because handling high-tech products requires the greatest care and expertise. Independent test reports in the trade press confirm again and again that BMW vehicles optimized with LIGHTWEIGHT products achieve significantly better results than the series counterparts or comparable vehicles from the competition. Our many years of experience and competence in dealing with optimized vehicles from BMW inspires and motivates us every day to implement new and innovative ideas and thus to respond even more precisely to your personal wishes. Become a member of the fascinating world of the LIGHTWEIGHT family with your BMW!

The LIGHTWEIGHT history - characterized by fast lap times and success

2022

Respect to BMW! The new G80 M3 / G82 M4 is a weapon!

However, LIGHTWEIGHT still found some adjustments to optimize the car. The product range is not yet complete; but we are working on it with high pressure!

2021

An era comes to an end. The M2 Competition is no longer built. For this occasion, LIGHTWEIGHT built the FINALE EDITION; just to show "what's going on". The enthusiasm around the car is enormous! So enormous that there is even a 1:18 model of the unique vehicle! (LINK)

2020

A "disappointment" for many; for LIGHTWEIGHT a chance to show what you're made of! The F40 M135i from BMW did not live up to the expectations that the F20/F21 M140i brought with it. A "trick" and a lot of know-how helped! (LINK)

2019

The actual topic of "exhaust system construction" has long since been expanded and a separate product range has been created through intensive work with well-known manufacturers. The vehicles of the BMW brand are converted by the new construction of a company headquarters with a showroom, workshop in absolute state-of-the-art design and a flawless working environment. Always focus on performance. (LINK)

2018

Optimizing an SUV is useless?

Incorrect ! LIGHTWEIGHT simply makes the X4 35d 8.54 seconds faster than an Audi Q7 V12 TDT, which drove a reference time of 1:51.23. Another record for LIGHTWEIGHT - fastest SUV at the Sachsenring! (LINK)

2017

Fixated by the goal of letting a BMW drive under 1:30 at the Sachsenring, an M2 with an S55 engine (at that time still ahead of BMW) was built and slimmed down by a radical 200 kilos. The "CSR" was born - the record was broken! (LINK)

2016

The BMW M4 F82 needed to be refilled. In the end we made the LIGHTWEIGHT LW M4 a whole 2.49 seconds faster in order to be able to lead the title "fastest BMW at the Sachsenring" again with 1:30.49. (LINK)

2015

With the BMW M4 F82, BMW has provided a perfect basis for LIGHTWEIGHT.

There, too, we built a great driving machine that set the record as the fastest BMW at the Sachsenring with a time of 1:32.98. (LINK)

2014

In 2014, the connection with BILSTEIN as a development partner was deepened and a 435i project vehicle was built together. Fast and comfortable are still attributes that people associate with LIGHTWEIGHT today.

2013

Also in 2013 it was very clear: LIGHTWEIGHT accelerates!

Based on a BMW F21 M135i, the Autobild Sportscars comparison test (LINK) achieved the fastest lap time of 1:37.85 at the Sachsenring.

2012

In 2012 there was a nice report in Autobild Sportscars under the name Playmobil (LINK)

Here, a LIGHTWEIGHT-tuned 1 Series M Coupé was tested and compared to the production vehicle. The conclusion: tuning as it should be!

2012 was also the hour of birth of our first spoiler sword.

2011

In 2011 we took a BMW 1 Series M Coupé and presented it as the first LIGHTWEIGHT complete vehicle. The optimized LIGHTWEIGHT Coupé made an immediate impression.

In December it was then presented as a club sport variant at the Essen Motor Show.

2010

In July 2010 we started building the first LIGHTWEIGHT titanium exhaust system for the E46 M3. With our BMW M3 E46 CSL we also took part at the Essen fair.
